Born in 1963 in Seoul, Gong Ji-young is a very popular novelist in Korea. She took part in the student struggles against the dictatorship of the 1980s, defending democracy and the rights of those excluded from society. A committed writer, she is appreciated for her works which deal with the condition of women and workers, the mistreatment of the disabled, sexual repression... On the occasion of the Nuit des Idées 2021, she spoke with the translator Choi Mikyung.
