As a student of environmental policy and law at Eastern Finland University, Majia has been involved at the local level, helping to write a climate change adaptation programme for municipalities in the Keski-Savo region. She has been involved in many environmental NGOs and has been a member of the board of the Savo-Karelia Nature League and the Youth Group for Climate Action in the Southern Savo region.
