In order to illustrate the theme chosen for 2021, "Close", we have chosen to question the issue of mobility and migration and their relationship to cities. We would like to discuss the impact of urbanization on migration: do cities slow down or on the contrary encourage flows, and conversely, what is the impact of travel on cities, particularly cities of transit, which sometimes become cities of destination? This meeting will bring together several specialists working in Agadez, a border city at the gateway to the Sahara, which is strongly affected by the issue of both regional and international travel.

The panel of this meeting will be composed of Patrick Viveret, former Magistrate of the Court of Auditors and specialist in North-South relations, present by videoconference, Manuel Carlos Dos Santos, head of sub-delegation for the UNHCR in Agadez, an IOM representative in Agadez, Florence Boyer, researcher at IRD, and Jean-Christophe Maurin, Director of AFD in Niger.
