As part of the 2022 edition of the Nuit des Idées, the French Institute of Georgia is organising an evening of exchanges around the theme of "Re-building a more inclusive society together" with French actors and their European and Georgian partners who are working to strengthen the social protection system and human development. This event will take place on 27 January at 6pm at the Georgian Writers' House in Tbilisi.

Two panels of experts will speak on the issues of social protection and access to health care in Georgia.

The first discussion will bring together :

  • Mr Raphaël Jozan, Director of AFD in Georgia
  • Ms Jana Kowalowa, Project Coordinator at the Czech Development Agency CzDA
  • Mr Antoine Pogorzelski, Senior Project Manager - Human Capital and Social Development Department, Expertise France.

The discussion will focus on the challenges facing Georgia in terms of social protection and access to healthcare.

The second panel will bring together speakers from civil society to discuss existing and future (re)construction spaces in the light of the pandemic.

It will include

  • Mr Ioseb Kelenjeridze, Director of the Law Institute of the University of Europe
  • Mr Vincent Dontot, Director of the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in Georgia
  • Ms. Maka Malavnishvili, French teacher in the Pankisi region
  • Ms. Nina Menagarishvili, Director of the Psychological and Psychiatric Care Centre "Philippe Paumelle".

More generally, this event will highlight the quest for solidarity and universal protection, which is at the heart of the concerns of the French Embassy in Georgia and is part of the continuity of close cooperation between Georgia and its European partners.

Within the framework of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union (FPEU), the 2022 edition of the Night of Ideas in Georgia will take on a special meaning and will highlight the coordinated action of France with its European and Georgian partners to work together towards accessible healthcare for all in Georgia.
