Confinement in the Philippines as a result of the pandemic has limited people's urban mobility. Indeed, access to public transport is now strictly controlled to avoid the contagion of the virus. Very quickly, bicycles have become the mode of transport of choice for people of all ages for daily commuting, to get to work, to school, or for shopping. Cities like Manila are known for the usual traffic jams. Local governments, cities, towns, and urban centers have since taken various initiatives to provide bicycle lanes and other infrastructure to facilitate travel on two wheels. The Night of Ideas will be an opportunity for the sectors concerned to discuss the various issues related to the spread of cycling among the inhabitants of urban centres.

A round table will bring together representatives of relevant authorities such as the Metro Manila Developoment Authority, the Mayor of Manila, the NGO Tour of the Fireflies which promotes cycling for its environmental benefits, the sports community and civil society. The discussion will be moderated by Howie Severino, Producer-Director of a documentary on the GMA Network television channel, cyclist.
