?️On the occasion of the Nuit des Idées 2022, the Institut français de Jérusalem, in partnership with the Institut du monde arabe, invites you to mirror Paris and Jerusalem on the theme of "(Re)building together".

?️A panel of speakers with varied profiles will be invited to speak and present inspiring initiatives in both cities. They will be duplexed between the Institut du monde arabe and the Consulate General of France in Jerusalem. Debate in French and English, with simultaneous translation.

Several unprecedented events reveal that, for longer than we thought, our "common home" has been cracked in the diversity of its cultures, countries, institutions and traditions. The COVID pandemic has made us feel isolated, the limits of digital communication, the anxiety of an improbable future and the withdrawal into our territories. The current war in the heart of Europe and the world's oldest conflicts (such as in Jerusalem) challenge us to consider justice, the sovereignty of peoples, respect for international law and the future of young people. Finally, the urgency of climate change calls for a change in the way we share the earth, and in our economic and educational models.

We must prepare to rebuild. But on what fundamentals and on what inventiveness and projects should we rely in the diversity of the world's contexts? Politics, education, transmission of knowledge, beliefs, institutions, authority... New actors of peace are being revealed, bridges are being built between yesterday's enemies, start-ups are betting on the future in fragile contexts, solidarity is being forged in the service of the poorest. The old nations and the oldest traditions are called upon to enlighten the present and the future.
Paris. Jerusalem. Two world cities facing this "reconstruction". Two cities marked throughout history by episodes where reconstruction was necessary, tirelessly. Radically different, but both crossroads of civilisation, how do they each take up the challenge of the future in such an international context through singular projects?
