The Lycée Français René Descartes of Phnom Penh in partnership with the French Institute of Cambodia invites you to the Night of Ideas. It is in the light of the consequences of the pandemic that the Night of Ideas has chosen to deal with the theme "Close" for its sixth edition.

LFRD students present their thoughts, their emotions, and their conclusions on this year 2020 which has changed their habits and their relationships. It is through artistic practice as well as through the experience of the philosophical word that the students approach these subjects in 4 axes:

• "Breaking free from distances": understanding our relationship to others, to new forms of sociability and the ubiquity of digital technology
• "Freedom and Rule": addressing social and political responses to the health crisis
• "Close to reality": "Fake news" and reality through the screens.
• "Close to nature?" to provide scientific insight.

Two films produced for the Night of Ideas to discover at the French Institute of Cambodia :

1. A film by Kavich Neang, an interview of the filmmaker Davy Chou by the students of the René Descartes High School in Phnom Penh.
2. A film by Enric Catala, interviews with Cambodian personalities from the State, Unesco, Unicef and students from the René Descartes High School in Phnom Penh conducted by journalist Eléonore Sok-Halkovich.

Presentation of Bertrand Dezoteux's film En attendant Mars made with the support of the Space Observatory, a CNES cultural laboratory.

Come and discover the artistic works of the EFRD students: videos, photos, podcasts, performances, theatre, on January 28th, 2020 from 6pm until January 30th in the IFC gallery.
