PROGRAM

Night of Ideas / Sofia / Bulgaria

15:10 - 15:15 Official opening : H.E. Mrs Florence Robine, Ambassador of France to Bulgaria

15:15 - 16:00 The psychological consequences of the Covid pandemic-19

Closer or further apart today? And closer to oneself? Distance and isolation, what consequences do they have on our relationships and our health? Has our consciousness grown? We will discuss closeness, limits and possibilities, crisis as opportunity and therapy. The need to separate ourselves to allow us to connect fully.

Irina Kiriakova, psychotherapist, member of the European Association of Gestalt Therapy; author of the book Love Finding its Way: Psychotherapy of Everyday Life.

16:00 - 17:00 Cultural Diversity and Globalization through the work of Victor Segalen

The diversity of cultures seems to be the big loser of the advent of the global village. Let's read, let's reread, the abundant work of Victor Segalen (1878-1919), a singular and fascinating figure of 20th century French literature! A tireless traveller, a direct witness to the spread of Western colonial imperialism, a champion of Exoticism and Diversity, Segalen invites us to a jubilant change of perspective as much as necessary: isn't it time to give back the right of city to the distant and distant to find a paradoxical closeness with oneself?

Speakers :

  • Romain Bertrand, Research Director at the Centre d'études et de recherches (CERI, Sciences-Po)
  • Adrien Cavallaro, lecturer in French literature at the University of Grenoble Alpes
  • Moderator: Romain Kachaner, professor of modern literature at the French Lycée Victor Hugo in Sofia

17:00 - 18:00 Close to emotion, far from the truth

Dissemination channels are as concentrated, far from their recipients, as the sources of information seem close, and bring us closer wherever we are.

This immediacy ignores distances and increases tenfold the sharing of emotion, favouring paradoxes: ethics and methods are blurred, the level of confidentiality is never clear: are we in a group, a mass, who emits and who receives?

When social networks shake up the media, who uses them, what happens to the information?

Speakers :

  • Dominique Pédinielli: journalist, lawyer, President of the Club de la Presse de Provence (Press Club of Provence).
  • Daniel Bombert: journalist, publisher, social and cultural engineer, former member of the Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (PACA and Corsica)
  • Irina Nedeva, President of the Association of European Journalists (AJE) - Bulgaria and Special Representative of the AJE International on issues of disinformation, radio journalist and author of documentary films
  • Moderator: Tony Nikolov, philosopher and journalist, editor-in-chief of the Culture portal and Culture magazine

18:00 - 19:00 Isolation as a catalyst for proximity

The word " close" today can be worrying. Underneath its harmless and desirable appearance, it also contains all the dangers of our time, not living together, but living among oneself, communitarianism, "sectarian" algorithms, and acritical thinking, which feeds on closed circuits.

Of the three units of time, place and action of classical theatre, contemporary theatre has done: "here and now". The theatre thus brings us together to share the present moment, without detours. How can we imagine this communion in Art after the shock of the pandemic? Can theatre play an important role in the process of re-education to being together?

Both literature and theatre evoke movement first and foremost. Every novel is a displacement. The plot leaves a starting point, moves on, finds an elsewhere. And the same is true of theatre: language is thus the search for another, for an elsewhere to arrive at, to settle in, in an internal movement, independent of the circumstances of its writing or its production on stage.

So how close? What good use can be made of it?

Speakers :

  • Galin Stoev, director, director of the Théâtre de la Cité - national drama centre of Toulouse
  • Luisa Etxenike, Spanish novelist, playwright, director of the digital platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge "canaleuropa.eu".
  • Ivan Panteleev, director, lives and works in Germany
  • Mira Todorova, performance critic, artistic director of DNK - space for dance and contemporary performance
  • Moderator: Stefan Prohorov, playwright, director, translator

19:00 - 20:00 Geopolitics and influences in the Balkans

We are going to evoke the proximity of Bulgaria in its long history, starting with the Bulgaria of the Volga and then its migration and settlement in the Balkans. We will also recall its ethnic and cultural diversity, its territorial variations and its importance for Europe. What role does Bulgaria play today? What are the different influences in Bulgaria?

Speakers :

  • Pierre Andrieu, former Cultural and Cooperation Counsellor in Russia, then Ambassador to Tajikistan, Moldova and for the Eastern Partnership, as well as French Co-Chairman of the Minsk Group
  • Yordan Bojilov, Chairman of the Sofia Security Forum, former Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence

Moderator: Tony Nikolov, philosopher and journalist, editor-in-chief of the Culture portal and Culture magazine

20:00 - 21:00 Environment: meeting with Camille Etienne and Danita Zaritchinova, two committed young women

Has the Covid 19 crisis reminded us of the importance of nature in our daily lives and economies, have we moved closer to it or away from it? What kind of commitment would enable us to face the environmental challenges that lie ahead? Two young women look at it through the eyes of two young women.
