Being "close" has 3 possible meanings: first of all, it means being able to gather in space, physically. It is also to be able to connect through thoughts, art and solidarity even though they are far away from each other. It is finally being in time, close to something. And what if the Lebanese alternative art scenes were the perfect example? How to define an emerging scene, an alternative scene, an independent scene in Beirut? In Lebanon? How and to what extent do these scenes generate solidarity in the wake of the many political disruptions and in reaction to successive crises? How do they place themselves in the artistic avant-garde and as guardians of a necessary democratic space?
● 17h - 19h: Online screening of the film Le Cèdre d'Octobre by Salim Saab, link available for 48 hours upon registration.
● 19h - 20h30: Lebanon's alternative and independent scenes, revealing new solidarities and democratic spaces? Panel discussion with Amanda Abi Khalil, Zeid Hamdan and Marie Joe Ayoub, moderated by Salim Saab
