27/01 - 19h00 - Round table "Building with the earth in Peru: between heritage and sustainable development

The aim of this round table is to exchange ideas about earthen construction in the world and in Peru in particular. Talking about earthen construction means talking about traditional techniques and knowledge, visible all over the world and in the long term, practical life and history, as well as common heritage. It is about building and rebuilding, with a collective dimension which, as this pandemic has shown, is the only way to move forward, leaving aside our egos.

The National Library of Peru is making available to the audience of the Night of Ideas a cycle of 12 interviews, co-produced with the Ministry of Culture's Cultura24 platform in the framework of the BNP Bicentennial. Directed by literary critic Alonso Rabí, these interviews aim to make Peru's creative and intellectual work known, showing the diversity of subjects related to the humanities, arts and sciences among the resources of the BNP's bibliographic and documentary heritage, which is accessible to researchers and the general public.

27/01 - 09h00 - Conference "New solidarities: contributions to innovative and creative volunteering in Latin America

This conference is organised in the framework of the International Seminar "EnLAzando Voluntariado en Latinoamérica" which will take place from 26 to 28 January, on the occasion of the closing of the FSPI EnLAzando project supported financially by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

In the context of the pandemic facing the world, a variety of innovative and creative proposals have emerged from volunteerism to address the social problems that have emerged during this period. The aim is to contextualise the challenges of the health crisis for volunteering by highlighting the medium and long term evolution of volunteering, and to look at innovative experiences that position new approaches and new modes of organisation and volunteering to show how volunteers contribute to development through social innovation.

Each of the videos deals with the experience of French or foreign volunteers from three associations present in Peru: Envol Vert, Qosqo Maki and Manchay Verde. They also talk about the impact of the health crisis on their personal experience as volunteers and on their vision of commitment.

Alhassane, 17 years old, has left Guinea and arrives alone in France after a difficult journey. Welcomed in a village in Normandy in the Caux region, he meets Louka, 13. Between the two boys a friendship is born and is invented day after day. What separates them binds them as much as what unites them. During the summer, they build a surprising hut on the cliff overlooking the sea, fish with a net, climb in the trees... Daniel gets out of prison where he has been incarcerated for many years and returns to Marseille. When Daniel comes to meet the baby, he discovers a blended family that is fighting to stay together. When a twist of fate shatters this fragile balance, Daniel, who has nothing left to lose, will try everything to help them.
